Zwelithini is a multi-skilled lawyer with 8 years’ post-qualification experience and knowledge in Public-Private Partnerships, corporate finance, commercial law, compliance, governance, drafting and litigation. His work includes negotiating, drafting, advising and litigating for corporate bodies and individuals on finance, governance, commercial law, public and administrative law, competition law, contractual and labour disputes and insurance claims.
Zwelithini worked at the Malawi Judiciary in 2012 where he acquired in-depth knowledge of the procedural and substantive law on various matters. He then joined Messrs. D & A Attorneys in 2013 where he gained managerial experience as he was in charge of the day-to-day running of the firm in addition to proffering legal advice. His law practice experience was further honed at Messrs. JB Suzi & Company where he gained extensive knowledge in banking and finance as well as governance advocacy. He was later transferred to work at the firm’s branch in Lilongwe where he managed a variety of matters ranging from negotiations to litigation.
Zwelithini went on to join Messrs. Ritz Attorneys-at-Law in 2014 as a Senior Associate .and Head of Legal Department. His work at this firm included overseeing and assisting in various cases being handled by a team of seven lawyers. This position sharpened his leadership, teambuilding, drafting, litigation, negotiation and advocacy skills. Additionally, in 2017, he underwent further training in legal drafting and negotiations at the International Law Institute in cooperation with Georgetown University in Washington D.C. on ‘Understanding, Drafting and Negotiating Contracts’.
Through this wide experience, Zwelithini has become a well-rounded attorney boasting extensive knowledge and practical experience in corporate finance, commercial law, compliance, governance, drafting and litigation.
Zwelithini joined Whyte & Cross in January 2021 where he is Managing Counsel.
